UX/Web design

Two of my latest web/UI design projects

Project 1:
CHarter SOlutions

I was approached by a local technology company with the task of taking their out-dated company website and breathing fresh air into it with a new, modern design and improved user interface. I worked with internal stakeholders and content strategists to develop an overall look and feel that aligned with the company's new messaging platform. After designing a visual system in Figma, I developed it in Wordpress using the Elementor visual builder.

the PROCESS

(1) Ideate and map

After several ideation sessions I was able to gather requirements and develop a "map" to define the information architecture of the site and give copy writers a rough structure to begin developing content. Next, first-draft copy was "plugged" into each applicable page and section within the site. I then built out a low-fidelity prototype to help copy writers refine content length and ensure messaging was being presented in a logical way.

(2) Design and development

Next, I developed a high-level design system in Figma that defined the general look and feel of key design elements while ensuring designs met accessibility standards (click the link below to view the Figma design file). I then brought all these elements together in Wordpress and developed the site in a staging environment using the visual builder "Elementor." After several phases of design and content refinement, the site was launched.

(3) Refine

After launch, I continually monitored and managed all facets of the website, which included: gathering, prioritizing and implementing content updates, gathering user feedback and requirements for future enhancements, monitoring site performance and improving where needed, monitoring SEO strategy across the entire site, using analytics to identify optimization opportunities, and more.

Project 2: Twisted Hinge Design

This was a project for my own woodworking and fine art business, Twisted Hinge Design. My goal was to have a website with strong e-commerce features that also generated leads for custom/commission work. Because of it's strong e-commerce capabilities, I landed on Shopify as my platform of choice. I starting with the "online store" portion of the site, and worked out from there to build the lead gen and marketing areas using a combination of custom code and templated Shopify modules.
